AJK Parliamentary delegation meets KP Governor, PPP Leadership in Peshawar

Peshawar, September 9 – A parliamentary delegation from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) led by Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Monday.

The delegation included former AJK Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Ministers Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Diwan Ali Khan Chughtai and Ahmad Raza Qadri, Assembly Secretary Chaudhry Basharat, Special Secretary Amjad Latif Abbasi and other officials. Governor Kundi welcomed the delegation, hosted a luncheon in their honour and assured full support on the Kashmir issue. The visitors also toured various sections of the historic Governor’s House.

Later, the delegation met Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Humayun Khan at his residence, where former federal minister Najmuddin Khan, former provincial minister Syed Zahir Ali Shah and other party leaders were also present. Discussions focused on the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar said Kashmir and Pakistan were inseparable, lauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s consistent support for Kashmir and expressed solidarity with the province’s flood-affected people.

Humayun Khan reaffirmed PPP’s historic and unwavering support for the Kashmiri people, saying the party had always prioritised the Kashmir cause and that Pakistan’s political forces remained united on this issue. Former Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan highlighted that the recent Operation Baniyan-ul-Marsous had further internationalised the Kashmir cause, stressing that a strong, united Pakistan was essential for Kashmir’s freedom.

Humayun Khan hosted a dinner for the visiting delegation. Separately, the AJK delegation led by Speaker Akbar visited the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar to offer condolences and prayers for victims of the recent devastating earthquake in Afghanistan. Afghan representatives thanked the delegation for their visit and solidarity.
