Rawalpindi: The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) organized a walk in front of the Rawalpindi Press Club to mark World Heart Day. The event was attended by PANAH members, civil society representatives, students, teachers, health professionals, and members of electronic and print media, who carried placards and banners highlighting the importance of heart health.
Addressing the participants, Major General (R) Masud Ur Rehman Kiani, President PANAH, emphasized the need for lifestyle changes to protect heart health. He urged citizens to adopt healthy habits by exercising regularly, avoiding unhealthy foods, managing stress, and undergoing regular medical check-ups.
Mr. Sanaullah Ghumman, General Secretary PANAH, reiterated the organization’s commitment to safeguarding the people of Pakistan from cardiovascular diseases. He stated that the awareness walk was part of PANAH’s ongoing campaign to promote prevention. He also called on the government to introduce strong legislation aimed at reducing the consumption of unhealthy foods, which remain a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases.
Other speakers at the event underscored the importance of preventive measures, stressing that adopting a healthy lifestyle is key to reducing the burden of heart disease in the country.
World Heart Day serves as a global reminder to prioritize heart health, and through this walk, PANAH reinforced its mission to build a healthier future for the people of Pakistan.
