KIM playing pivotal role in capacity building of civil service officials: Barrister Atta-ur-Rehman Chishti

MUZAFFARABAD: The Kashmir Institute of Management (KIM) received the distinguished visit of prominent UK-based Kashmiri politician and diplomat Barrister Atta-ur-Rehman Chishti. Originally from Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Chishti has served as Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs and held several high-profile positions including Strategic Adviser, Visiting Professor at leading US and UK universities, former Member of the British Parliament, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for International Religious Freedom, and Trade Envoy.

Barrister Chishti was warmly welcomed by KIM Director General Dr. Muqeem-ul-Islam along with senior faculty members and staff. During a formal meeting, he was briefed on the institute’s mission, ongoing training programmes, policy research activities, and future development plans.

In his remarks, Barrister Chishti lauded KIM’s pivotal role in building the capacity of the civil service, training public sector officials, and contributing to policymaking in the region. He said institutions like KIM were essential for preparing future leaders and promoting good governance, and expressed admiration for the dedication and professionalism of its faculty and administration. He pledged to work for international academic partnerships and knowledge exchanges to strengthen the institute’s outreach.

Barrister Chishti also toured various departments and facilities of the institute and met with staff members. To commemorate his visit, Dr. Muqeem-ul-Islam presented him with a KIM souvenir shield.
