Pakistan is once again facing a serious flood, and this time, the situation has become worse because of the water released by India. Rivers are overflowing, villages are under water, and thousands of people have lost their homes. The pain of this disaster has once again reminded us how weak our system is in handling such situations.
After India released a large amount of water, rivers in Pakistan started to overflow. Villages in Punjab and Sindh were quickly drowned. Crops were destroyed, homes collapsed, and roads were cut off. Families had to leave everything behind and move to safer areas. In many places, people are now living in temporary camps without proper food, clean water, or medical help.
India controls several rivers that flow into Pakistan. Whenever India releases water suddenly, it creates a flood-like situation here. This is not the first time; every few years, the same story repeats. Instead of informing Pakistan in advance, sudden water release makes the damage even greater. Both countries need to talk about this issue seriously under the Indus Water Treaty, so that the lives of ordinary people are not put at risk again and again.
The government of Pakistan has rescue teams working in the affected areas, but the response is not enough. Our system is always late in preparing for such disasters. If proper planning, dams, and embankments were in place, the damage could be less. The government needs to work more on early warning systems and flood protection walls, especially when we know water can come from India at any time.
These floods are not just a seasonal problem. When India releases water, the situation turns into a national disaster for Pakistan. Roads, schools, hospitals, farms, and homes get washed away. Every time this happens, the country suffers huge losses. This matter must be treated as a national emergency, and strong steps are needed to stop such destruction in the future.
Pakistan needs to build more dams to store water safely instead of letting it flood the land. Better drainage and strong embankments are also necessary. Agreements with India should be strictly followed, and Pakistan must demand early warnings before water is released. At the same time, people should be educated about safety steps during floods. Climate change is making such disasters worse, so Pakistan must take it seriously.
