Islamabad — The Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) on Friday organised a solemn Dua and Fateha Khawani ceremony at the grand Faisal Masjid to commemorate the 77th death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Founder of Pakistan. The event was held immediately after Friday prayers and drew diplomats, religious leaders, civil society representatives, and a large number of citizens.
NPC Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed led the delegation along with NPC Executive Secretary Gauhar Zahid Malik, MD Observer TV Omer Malik, and family members of late Zahid Malik, the Founder Chairman of NPC and former Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer. Senior officials of the Islamabad Capital Territory administration, CDA, and police also attended the commemoration, demonstrating cross-institutional respect for the Father of the Nation.
Participants offered heartfelt prayers for Quaid-e-Azam’s soul and paid rich tributes to his leadership and statesmanship. Speakers described him as a visionary who led the Muslims of the subcontinent to independence and laid the foundation of a sovereign homeland. The Khateeb of Faisal Masjid led the prayers and highlighted Jinnah’s unmatched contributions, calling freedom a divine gift that should be guarded zealously by every citizen.
During his sermon, the Khateeb urged the congregation to remember the sacrifices made during the Pakistan Movement and also prayed for oppressed Muslims in Gaza, Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, expressing solidarity with their struggles for liberation.
Speaking to Pakistan Observer at the ceremony, NPC Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed lauded Quaid-e-Azam’s attributes, recalling Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani’s words that “Quaid-e-Azam was a true and trustworthy man.” He emphasised that Jinnah granted Pakistanis their independence and it is now their collective responsibility to safeguard and strengthen it for future generations.
Mian Muhammad Javed also made a special appeal to the country’s youth to pray not only for Quaid-e-Azam but also for his colleagues and followers in the Pakistan Movement, stressing that their sacrifices must remain an enduring inspiration for building a stronger, united Pakistan.
