CDA, STZA join hands to establish special technology zone in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by Member Planning and Design, Dr. Khalid Hafiz, along with Executive Director Aamir Saleemi from the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) and the relevant officers from CDA.

The meeting discussed the proposed project for establishing a Special Technology Zone in Islamabad. During the briefing, it was informed that 28 Special Technology Zones have been notified across the country, while 141 acres of land have been allocated for the Special Technology Zone in Islamabad.

The meeting was informed that national and international companies and entrepreneurs associated with modern technology will establish their offices and production houses in this special zone.

The meeting was briefed on the master plan prepared for the proposed site. It was informed that this special zone in Islamabad will include a technology zone, a high-tech production zone and commercial and residential areas.

The meeting was told that special concessions in taxes and duties, along with various facilities, will be provided for high-tech companies in this zone. It was agreed in the meeting to form a joint working group between the two authorities. The purpose of forming this working group is to make the project feasible and operational at the earliest.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that a feasible and sustainable model be prepared by reviewing the financial aspects of the project. He said this project will play a key role in promoting technology and establishing a technology hub in the Federal Capital, Islamabad.

Chairman CDA said that this project will also create employment opportunities in the technology sector within Islamabad. Concluding the meeting, the Chairman CDA reaffirmed the commitment to fully utilize the technical expertise and experience of STZA to ensure the success of this project.
