Rawalpindi — The Jinnah Iqbal South Asian Forum distributed shawls and warm blankets among flood-affected women and girls in various parts of Central Punjab. Nearly 500 women and girls received these relief items, which were handed over by Dr. Saadia Kamal and her team.

Forum Chairman Rana Abdul Baqi said that the relief supplies had been dispatched to the victims last week. He noted that compared to the massive devastation caused by the floods, the relief operations and rehabilitation efforts remain highly inadequate and unorganized. According to him, flood-affected people, especially children, women, and the elderly, are in urgent need of assistance.

He further stated that apart from heavy rains, cloudbursts, and local factors, one of the major reasons behind the intensity of floods was the release of water into rivers from India. He added that in addition to Punjab, relief items were also delivered to Balakot and Jaba in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Dr. Muhammad Akbar.

Rana Abdul Baqi emphasized that serving humanity in times of need and distress is among the noblest acts of worship. He urged all citizens to extend their cooperation and support, according to their capacity, to those engaged in relief work for flood victims
