Anti Corruption Establishment Arrests Three ADs of Employees Social Security Institutions

PESHAWAR: Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has registered an FIR against the Deputy Director and  Assistant Directors of the Employees Social Security Institution (ESSI) for negligence in duties and large-scale financial irregularities. Three Assistant Directors have also been arrested.

According to the Anti-Corruption Establishment, complaints were received regarding massive irregularities and negligence in the Employees Social Security Institution, a subsidiary body of the Labour Department. A detailed inquiry confirmed the allegations, and those responsible were identified.

The inquiry revealed that during the hiring of daily-wage employees for different departments, the ESSI failed to deduct the mandatory six percent contribution from the payments made to the private service-providing companies for the welfare of workers. This negligence caused a financial loss of Rs. 92 million to the national exchequer.

As a result of professional negligence and financial misconduct, an FIR has been registered against a Deputy Director Muhammad Amir Wazir, and three Assistant Directors Mamoon Zafar, Israr Ahmad, Noor Muhammad, Muhammad Nawaz, and Kaleem Ullah.

Furthermore, an FIR has also named private sector officials including Ghulam Jelani, Director of Hello Tech; Taimur Ahmad, CEO of Ahmed Associates; and Wilayat Khan, MD of Sunrise Enterprise.

The FIR has been registered under sections 406, 409, 419, and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Three Assistant Directors have been arrested while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.
