Met Dept says changing weather conditions expected through mid-December

The Meteorological Department has forecast rain, snowfall and dense fog across several parts of the country over the coming days, as a new spell of winter weather affects upper and plain regions.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain and snowfall are likely in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from December 13 to 15. The changing weather may impact travel and daily routines in mountainous districts.

Residents have been advised to stay alert to local conditions during this period.

GB, Kashmir to see wintry weather

During the same period, rain and snowfall are also expected in some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The Met Office noted that these regions may experience typical winter conditions as the system moves across northern Pakistan.

Cold temperatures and reduced visibility are expected in higher elevations.

Balochistan to receive rain, snowfall

The Met Department has predicted rain and snowfall in various districts of Balochistan from December 14 to 15. The weather system is expected to bring relief in some areas while creating challenges in others due to colder conditions.

Authorities may issue local advisories depending on the intensity of precipitation.

Light weather activity is also forecast for urban centers, with drizzle expected in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar. Meanwhile, Murree is likely to experience light rain and snowfall during this spell.

Such conditions may lead to slippery roads, especially in hilly areas.

Heavy fog to affect plains of Punjab, KP, Sindh

Dense fog is expected to prevail in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh. The PMD warned that fog may reduce visibility during early morning and nighttime hours.

Commuters are advised to exercise caution while traveling on highways and motorways.

The Meteorological Department also announced that another series of westerly winds is likely to enter the country from December 19. This could bring further rain and snowfall to northern and western parts of Pakistan.

Weather conditions are expected to remain changeable in the coming weeks as winter systems continue to affect the region.
