MUZAFFARABAD: Former president and prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and member of the Legislative Assembly, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, has said that a strong Pakistan is possible only through strong institutions.
Talking to various public delegations, he said the Pakistan Army has not only defended the country’s borders with dedication but also stood with the nation in times of natural disasters and crises. “The Pakistan Army is the pride of both Pakistani and Kashmiri nations, and we pay them tribute for their remarkable services,” he remarked.
He said Azad Kashmir serves as the base camp for the freedom struggle, and the sacrifices of forefathers made it possible for people to breathe in freedom today. “This region cannot afford chaos as it guarantees the continuation of the Kashmir freedom movement,” he stressed.
Yaqoob Khan added that strong institutions will also ensure resolution of public issues, and despite limited resources, efforts are underway to address people’s basic problems, particularly in far-flung areas.
Referring to the Kashmir cause, he said: “Our ancestors made immense sacrifices for Kashmir’s freedom. The day is not far when Kashmiris will see the dawn of independence.” He urged the international community and the United Nations to take notice of the atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and play an effective role in granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination in line with UN resolutions.
He also called on the public to demonstrate responsibility for the security and stability of the state, saying that collective efforts and wisdom are essential for safeguarding the region and ensuring progress.
