In leaked audio, Elahi hopes for ‘favorable’ judge in Muhammad Bhatti case

An audio leak, purportedly featuring former Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, has come to the fore, wherein a voice – said to be his – could be heard telling his ‘lawyer’ to try and get a certain judge to hear a case of his close associate, Muhammad Khan Bhatti.

In the meantime, the PML-Q leader asserts that the leaked audio does not contain any incorrect statements.

In the alleged audio, a lawyer who goes by the name “Joja jee” is being talked to by a voice that is said to be Parvez Elahi.

In the case of Muhammad Khan Bhatti, a close aide of Elahi, it is said that Elahi is telling his lawyer to try to get a bench formed of his choice.

In a second audio that was leaked on Thursday, Elahi asks his friend Abid Zuberi to follow up on the situation. They also talk about a case involving former CCPO Ghulam Muhammad Dogar from Lahore that is scheduled to be heard by Naqvi.

Elahi is said to be talking to an unidentified person in the third audio about the first person visiting the second person. However, the latter tries to convince Elahi that the visit might not be appropriate.

The transcript of the three-part audio leak is as follows:

Parvez Elahi’s first audio: In the Muhammad Khan case, we must appoint (name withheld), Joja sb.

Joja: Ok. He will travel to Islamabad today… the case has been sent to Islamabad following hearing the arguments.

We can attempt that following the beginning of the process.

Rachel Parvez: Do what you can, Joja: We have to carry it out. We will most certainly try. (Withheld name)

Rachel Parvez: Ja, Joja: Okay then!

Elahi, Parvez: Joja: He is extremely “dabaang,” or mercurial. He is, yes. I know him.

Abid Zuberi’s second audio: However, have they filed? Sir, have they filed?

Elahi, Parvez: Confirm their filing with Joja SB.

Zuberi Abid: Okay, I’ll ask Joja sb about it.

Also yesterday, I spoke with him; it wasn’t ready until then, so let me check.

Elahi, Parvez: You can then check that it was done correctly.

Zuberi Abid: I’ll do that, okay?

Elahi, Parvez: No one should know.

Zuberi Abid: I now understand, sir. Sir, there was something else.

The Dogar case will be heard by the (name withheld) once more the following day, on the 14th.

(Withheld name) is also included in it.

Elahi, Parvez: What is Dogar?

Zuberi Abid: Ghulam Muhammad Dogar, whose CCPO case had been filed.

Elahi, Parvez: Yes, indeed.

Zuberi Abid: Dogar, who is also a CCPO, has been scheduled for a hearing. He was let go or replaced, but the case is still open and scheduled for the 14th.

Elahi, Parvez: Okay, let me talk about the third unidentified audio: All the best, Chaudhry sb.

Elahi, Parvez: Yes, Assalamu Alaikum Unknown: What’s up? Are you okay?

Elahi, Parvez: Yes. I was very sad because I am personally coming.

Here is Muhammad Khan. I’ll be there as well if I’m close to you.

Unknown: He has made it.

Unknown: Chaudhry sb, Chaudhry sb, it’s fine; there’s no problem with it. Parvez Elahi, I’m saying: No, I won’t be arriving according to any rules.

Unknown: It’s like your own home, so you can come whenever you want.

Elahi, Parvez: It is acceptable; I will briefly greet you before departing.

Unknown: Parvez Elahi: Kindly pay attention to what I have to say. I have arrived. Unknown: Parvez Elahi: Kindly pay attention: I’m getting close; what do you want me to do? I’ll just say hello… “Nothing wrong” Later that night, the former CM released a statement to respond to the audio leak.

In the statement, he insisted that he had not said anything incorrectly in the clip and neither confirmed nor denied the contents of the leak.

He claimed that the conversation about Muhammad Khan Bhatti’s case with a lawyer had been recorded and misrepresented.

Bhatti’s wife has made an appeal to the Supreme Court for his recovery after he has been missing for ten days.

He maintained that that case would also feature prominently.

Elahi stated, “They are trying to prove that it is a sin if a person approaches the courts for justice through his lawyers,” and “that the leadership of The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is running a systematic campaign against the judiciary, while we have always respected the judiciary.” Elahi went on to say that Elahi was referring to the PML-N.

He asserted that the “mastermind” of the Model Town tragedy, Rana Sanaullah, has suddenly awoken and begun speaking, and the government is blinded by retaliation and wants to imprison all opponents in false cases.

He emphasized, “They will be punished in the same case.”
