Punjab governor, ECP to consult on polls date today

Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman has convened a consultative meeting to fix a date for elections in Punjab, today (Tuesday), on the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The meeting will be attended by chief secretary, Punjab police chief, and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) representatives.

Letter from the ECP to the governor of Punjab On Monday, the election commission sent a letter to Governor Balighur Rehman asking for advice on a timetable for provincial assembly elections.

Governor House contacted the ECP, and on Tuesday at noon, a delegation of the commission is scheduled to meet Mr. Balighur Rehman.

To set a date for Punjab’s elections, the ECP secretary will lead a delegation that includes the special secretary and DG law.

Mohsin Naqvi, interim chief minister of Punjab, stated that transfers and postings are only announced on the ECP’s orders.

Imran Khan, chairman of the PTI, has made the claim that the Punjab interim government has been sending its blue-eyed officials to rig the elections.
