SC restores Ghulam Mahmood Dogar as Lahore CCPO
The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday suspended the Punjab caretaker government’s order seeking transfer of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar and restored him back on the post
The case in this regard was heard by a three-member bench led by SC judge Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, who suspended the transfer order for Dogar.
According to the court, the matter of appointments and transfers in Punjab had been referred to a five-member bench by the Punjab caretaker government and is currently pending.
Ghulam Mahmood Dogar was suspended by the federal government on November 5 after activists from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stormed the Governor House and were told to report to the establishment division.
Dogar challenged his suspension in the Lahore High Court (LHC) despite the federation’s decision to remove him from his position.
After that, the Punjab government also refused to give the federal government Mahmood’s services, and the federal government sent him a warning letter.
Dogar was transferred once more on January 23 after the matter was referred to the Supreme Court. In the meantime, the caretaker setup in Punjab was established.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana was appointed as the new CCPO following the transfer.
