ECC approves quarterly tariff hike for K-Electric consumers

ISLAMABAD: Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved quarterly tariff adjustment for K Electric at Rs. 1.72 per unit, Government guarantees for Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Rs. 100 billion and Rs. 20 billion credit facility for Punjab Green Corporate Initiative، News reported on Saturday.

According to an official announcement, Federal Minister of Finance Dr. Shamshad Akhtar presided over the ECC meeting which was also attended by other federal ministers and senior officials.

The meeting considered summaries submitted by various ministries including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security, and Ministry of Defense.

KE Tariff Adjustment Approval XWDISCOs 2nd & Equivalent to K-Electric Consumers “Uniform Submitted by the Ministry of Energy on Quarterly Tariff Adjustment after consideration & Third Quarter Fiscal Year 2023 ”.

After detailed discussion، It was decided by the ECC that the reasonableness of the tariff through adjustment for KE in accordance with the guidelines of the same QTA application already issued to NEPRA, December 2023، Will apply to July, August and September 2023 consumption received from K-Electric customers in January 2024 and February 2024, respectively.

Furthermore, XWDISCOs ’ 2nd QTA’s Rs0.4689 / unit application, which is already approved for K-electric users، According to the guidelines of the same QTA application already issued to NEPRA, April 2023, January 2024 and February 2024 received from K-Electric users, respectively، May and June 2023 will apply to consumption.

Participants also discussed a summary submitted by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs regarding “Revision of Lighthouse Dues” and after a detailed discussion on lighthouse obligations Decided to revise from Rs. 7 / Rs.20 / NRT from NRT under section 10 (1) of the Lighthouse Act, 1927.

The summary submitted by the Ministry of Energy for extension of the government guarantee limit of Rs. 100 billion in favor of PSO till December 2024 was also fixed, Subject to approval of the terms and conditions of each financing facility by the Finance Division after renewal.

Distribution of Rs. 20 billion in Federal Government Account by the Government of Punjab for further distribution of Green Corporate Initiative (Private) for Green Pakistan Initiative The suggestion was also discussed.

The ECC approved the distribution with the observation that provincial governments should engage directly with companies operating under the Green Pakistan Initiative for future payments Can.

On another summary submitted by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Security regarding the “Grant of Special Relief Package for Daily Wage Workers at Chaman Border ” Also considered.

After detailed discussion and discussion, The ECC asked the BISP to review the cases of 8,000 registered daily wage workers employed on the Chaman border to determine whether They are already in the system and provide assistance to eligible people, the Treasury Department، Out of its allocated budget in consultation with the Balochistan government, which later reimbursed the amount spent on providing six months’ assistance to daily wage workers is for.

Summary submitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding technical supplementary grant of Rs. 47.45 million within the approved budget for repair and maintenance during CFY 2023-24 Was considered and approved۔
