Govt slashes petrol price by Rs2.04 per litre

The new prices will apply from November 16 to midnight and will remain in effect until November 30.

In a statement, the Finance Division said that on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, the rates of petroleum products were reduced to Rs. 9.01.

The price of high speed diesel (HSD) was reduced by Rs. 6.47 per liter while the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil were reduced by Rs. 6.05 and Rs. 9.01 respectively Gone.

The caretaker government reduced fuel prices a month later because prices did not change for two-fifteen-day surveys.

The interim government is charging zero general sales tax (GST) on all petroleum products while the rate of petroleum levy (PL) on petrol and diesel is Rs. 60 per liter.

On October 16, the government reduced the price of petrol by Rs. 40 per liter and HSD by Rs. 15 per liter.

Diesel is widely used in the fields of transportation and agriculture. Reducing its price could reduce the effects of inflation and bring relief to farmers as the harvest season begins.
