Illinois health dept investigates norovirus outbreak linked to dollar burrito event


The Evanston Health and Human Services Department in the US state of Illinois has launched an investigation into the outbreak of neuroviruses linked to the “$1 Burrito event” For Northwestern University students held last week

The restaurant also noted that the spread of neuroviruses is “more common in settings such as colleges and universities.”

The restaurant added in a news release: “Nevertheless, we are taking immediate and comprehensive steps to address the situation. We are taking additional steps to clean and sanitize well, focusing on areas that may be sensitive to virus transmission.”

According to the Department of Health, neurovirus is a highly contagious virus that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and nausea that can affect people of all ages.

Symptoms usually appear 12 to 48 hours after exposure and recovery usually takes one to three days.

According to the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the virus spreads easily through direct contact with an infected person, Eat or drink contaminated food or beverages and touch contaminated surfaces or objects before touching the mouth.

The CDC recommends washing your hands and washing fruits and vegetables as prevention measures.
